About

At Umber Designs, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We create purposeful, carbon-conscious designs for people and businesses who value the outdoors and want to enjoy it with minimal environmental impact.

Specialising in the design, construction, and delivery of bespoke outdoor structures and functional designs, we use locally sourced materials wherever possible, supporting UK suppliers and reducing our carbon footprint. Our approach follows the principles of the circular economy — repurposing and reworking materials to extend their life, reduce waste, and minimise reliance on new resources.

Guided by a deep respect for nature, every project we undertake is shaped by efficiency, craftsmanship, and care for the environment. Whether it’s an outdoor kitchen, a community installation, or a one-off commission, we combine innovation and practicality to create spaces built to last.

We are currently developing our range of outdoor kitchens with the support of Bath Spa University and are now accepting orders. Please visit our contact page to find out more, or follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates on our latest work.

Sustainability Statement

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. We feel that adaptive reuse is key to enabling a circular economy, we do this through sourcing repurposed materials, cleaning and adapting them for new projects. This reduces the need for new resources and cuts energy use, while creating distinctive, quality products.

We prioritise locally sourced materials and work with suppliers across the UK to reduce our environmental impact. Timber, metal, and other materials are carefully chosen for quality and character.

Every piece we make is designed to be meaningful, functional, and kind to the environment. We believe that thoughtful design should benefit both people and the planet.
